Say Something Beautiful!

Traciana emphasizes the importance of kindness and tolerance, while helping students embrace each other and build “community” within their schools.

At both the middle school and high school level, students are often unaware of how many of their dreams are increasingly undermined by the limiting beliefs and behaviors they are acquiring. This presentation is designed to stop students in their tracks and provoke them to reflect upon their lives, past mistakes and unique talents.

During this highly interactive, multimedia workshop, Traciana engages students to literally raise their voices to showcase their aspirations and break past the pressures and fears in order to fulfill them. As Traciana guides students to write and share their own songs and stories during this presentation, students experience their innate ability to be the change for themselves and each other.  During this presentation, students experience the power they have to celebrate themselves, to be celebrated and celebrate one another.

Traciana builds upon these goals by teaching the basics of realistic goal-setting and goal-getting and provides follow-up materials to ensure sustainable results.  Traciana guides participants to harness their own inner success resources in order to make their mark in their schools, communities, and the world fearlessly. Traciana refocuses participants’ mindsets, illustrating that obstacles are opportunities from which to learn and become empowered students.

Students emerge with their own toolset to engage in leadership, positive action and vital skills necessary to continue their work in the future to create more caring school communities that are characterized by daily inspiring words and actions.

“Say Something Beautiful” is an ideal program to kick off the school year or support your school’s Dignity for All Students and/or “bullying prevention” initiatives.

For Grades 6-8 and 9 – 12 (50 to 75 minutes): In this program Traciana works with students to build “community” within their schools, promote kindness and encourage them to embrace each other.

Creating Hope: Celebrating Everyone’s Dreams

Creating Hope: Celebrating Everyone’s Dreams provides a unique experience in which every participant celebrates the overlooked hopes and dreams of their personal and family legacy. During this highly interactive presentation Traciana creates a journey that contrasts the mainstream media’s portrayal of African American men and women with stories of some of the key unsung African American heroes. Throughout American history, these heroes harnessed their hopes and dreams to create a more tolerant, equal society for people of all backgrounds.

Using song, story-telling and research packed multi-media, Traciana creates an essential opportunity for the audience to examine some of the prevalent materialistic and often superficial aspirations featured in mainstream media with their own diverse and rich legacies that have been pushed aside or forgotten.

Through the stories of visionaries such as Bayard Rustin, Martin Luther King, Jr., Harriet Tubman, Frederick Douglas and others, Traciana highlights the challenges and achievements each one has contributed by using their unique and essential voice and choices. This presentation also explores how we can benefit from the work of these visionaries today and how we can continue their work in the future.

About Traciana

Traciana Graves lost her stepbrother to a horrific college hazing incident and has been deeply affected by the event. With the support of her mentors, she reclaimed her personal identity and her voice, which led to a career touring the world and performing in front of tens of thousands of people as a songwriter and singer for Celine Dion and six-time Grammy award winning Steel Pulse.

As Traciana has come to recognize the full power of her voice, she has chosen to use it in an incredibly powerful way by founding Project Bully Free Zone, a national organization that has already helped 7,000 student teacher and parent participants to foster self-esteem and create bully free zones.

“From the moment I spoke to you, I could “feel” that what you had to offer would be magnificent, and truly Traciana Graves’ presentation yesterday surpassed my expectations.  I have been bombarded with positive comments from my colleagues and students all day long.  They were impressed by her ability to incite moments of silliness, then reign them in to extremely serious  moments of reflection…. My most powerful emotion came when four volunteers in each assembly eagerly stepped forward to share their stories.  It was truly emotional, and will have a lasting positive impact on our school community…Thank you, thank you, thank you for your patience and professional care in making this happen for Penncrest High School.”

“I am extremely excited to say that I just had the pleasure of observing and working with one of the best performers for school assemblies I have ever seen. Traciana was absolutely flawless in her delivery of educating and entertaining the students at P.S. /I.S. 192. She taught them about being a good person and how to maintain their good character. I was very impressed with her ability to gage the crowd and adjust her program to the different attention spans, needs, and developmental capabilities of the students. If your school values good character and wants to prevent bullying from occurring in your classrooms then this program will make that happen for you!”

“Traciana Graves was a true hit at this year’s YouthBridge-NY Leaders to Leaders Youth Summit! The passion she has for her making a difference in the world, truly shined through her case study workshop. The students were engaged and excited about the ways that music can be used to connect and empower youth worldwide. Even facilitators who were passing through the hallways were truly moved by the sounds of youth singing as they walked past her session. I look forward to remaining in touch for projects in the future.”

“Traciana’s Songnote presentation was great! Young people need to know and hear that something as simple as a song can be their driving force to be active in their community. It teaches them that what you have inside of you is good enough to be the change.”
